Welcome!

This website has been designed to serve a few purposes. It is an opportunity to tell you a little bit about our community and extend a greeting to new business and residents. Upon your arrival to the “City of Pride,” you will find remarkable examples of nature and people at their best. Our education system, both public and parochial, offers excellent opportunities to excel in academics and in your favorite sport, band, foreign language, or drama. Two colleges are close by for residents of all ages to continue their education. Adult activities include golf, horseshoes, softball, volleyball and bowling leagues. Youth activities include the Parks and Recreation Soccer Program with enrollments between 500 – 1000 children, the swimming program, the DeSoto Football Club for ages 6-12, Little League, and many more.

The history and recreation of DeSoto offer such activities as hunting, fishing, canoeing, boating, hiking, bingo, tennis, antiquing, historical home church and cemetery tours, and unique dining experiences.

DeSoto is full of volunteer spirit. Our fire departments are state of the art. Organizations offer our community many ways to work together through such clubs as: PRIDE, the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Masons, DeSoto Community Foundation, Caring Communities, Joachim Clean Stream, Amvets, Elks, Historical Society, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Chamber of Commerce, and more.

DeSoto offers many employment opportunities. Jefferson College, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and Mineral Area College, are all located within minutes of DeSoto. Several local businesses each employ over three hundred people. Excellent highway systems bring back home timely and with ease those who make the quick trip into the city for work.

You will never find a community with a more vast array of housing, more dazzling examples of nature, or a more friendly, hardworking people.

Welcome to the “City of Pride” from the De Soto Chamber of Commerce.
